There's so much to experience vacationing in New York City, it's hard to choose which sights, activities, and restaurants should make it onto the itinerary.  To make it a little easier, we've compiled five cools spots you won't want to miss. So toss your travel flats in your suitcase and have a summer to remember in New York City.

1. Walk the High Line

Pull out your comfortable flats to walk the High Line in Chelsea--a 1.5-mile public park built atop an elevated railroad track. Running between 10th and 12th Avenues, from the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, you'll discover artwork, music, festivals, wildlife, stargazing and breathtaking views of the city.

2. A Nautical Adventure

After exploring the streets of Tribeca, get a new perspective on the city's architecture by viewing it from the river. Enjoy the beautiful New York City skyline as you float along the Hudson River in a kayak--for free! Visit The Downtown Boathouse at Pier 26 (Hudson River Park) to rent a kayak. The nonprofit provides brief instruction, safety equipment, lockers and changing rooms.

3. Sweet Treats

Picking a favorite sweet treat in New York City is like picking a favorite child--impossible and completely unnecessary. Whether you pop into only one or try them all, any one of these sweet spots is sure to knock your travel flats off.

4. Discover Your Inner Spy

Deception, encryption, surveillance, intelligence, and special ops--it's the spy museum that opened at the beginning of 2018. Skyscape is an interactive museum where you'll learn about espionage of the past, present, and future and even get to test your own spy skills.

5.

Nothing beats ending a summer day with a free movie in the park. With free movies playing in parks across the city just about every night, you're sure to find one that suits your taste.
